Go Forward (goforward.life) is operated by Go Forward. We help people navigate the practical and legal steps that follow the death of a loved one. You can reach us at hello@goforward.life.

- Your relationship to the deceased
- State of residence
- Situation details (whether a will exists, whether there is real property, whether minor children are involved, etc.)
- Email address (if you create an account)

Information collected automatically:
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages visited and actions taken within the app (via analytics)

We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or any payment information.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Generate and save your personalized action plan
- Support optional professional introductions when you request them
- Improve the product and fix bugs
- Send you account-related emails (plan updates, saved progress notifications)
How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With professionals you choose to contact: If you request an introduction through Go Forward, we share your name, email, state, and a brief summary of your situation with that professional. You will always be informed before this happens.
- With service providers: We use third-party tools to operate the product (hosting, email delivery, analytics). These providers process data only as instructed by us and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes.
- If required by law: We will disclose information if required to do so by law or valid legal process.
Data retention
We retain different types of information for different lengths of time, depending on how you use Go Forward.
Anonymous sessions
If you use Go Forward without creating an account, we retain your session data (plan inputs, step progress) for 90 days from your last activity. After 90 days, this data is automatically deleted.
Account plans and saved data
If you create an account, we retain your plan data, saved steps, and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you have not logged in for two years, we will send you an email reminder. If your account remains inactive for an additional 30 days after that reminder, we may archive your plan data. Archived data is deleted within 90 days of archival. You can prevent this by logging in at any time.
Professional introduction records
If you requested an introduction to a professional, we retain a record of that introduction for three years for legal and business compliance purposes. This record includes your name, email, state, the date of the introduction, and which professional you were connected with. This data is not exposed in the app but is available upon request.
Analytics and usage data
Aggregated, anonymized analytics data (page views, feature usage patterns) may be retained indefinitely. This data cannot be used to identify you individually.
Account deletion and data removal
You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time in either of two ways:
- In-app: Go to your profile and select “Delete my account.” This will permanently delete your plan data, saved steps, and account information within 30 days.
- By email: If you cannot access your account, email hello@goforward.life with the subject line “Account Deletion Request.” Include the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion by email.
What is deleted when you close your account:
- Your name, email address, and profile information
- Your personalized plan and all saved steps
- Your situation inputs (relationship to the deceased, state, circumstances)
What is retained after deletion:
- Professional introduction records (name, email, introduction date, professional contacted) for up to three years, as required for business and legal records. You may request a copy by emailing hello@goforward.life.
- Anonymized, aggregated analytics that cannot identify you individually.
We do not delete data that we are legally required to retain.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under CCPA including the right to know what data we collect and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell data). Email us at hello@goforward.life to exercise any of these rights.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and understand how the product is used. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
Children's privacy
Go Forward is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
